incorporate it properly on your own site. You want to track which
clicks result in commissions. And to do this you’ll want to use
redirects.

I use the Pretty link WordPress plugin for link redirection and click tracking is built in. The free version comes with basic reporting (good enough for most people), and the paid version comes with extra reporting through Google Analytics.
I only set 3 default options in the Prettylink Plugin:

- Add nofollow to Link
- Default Link Redirection Type: Permanent (301)
